The Suffolk County Psychological Association is proud to announce its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee.

Mission Statement

To honor the lived experience of disempowered and marginalized communities and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion through:

  1. Disseminating information and collaborating with community partners devoted to civil rights advocacy
  2. Endorsing changes in public policy that are consistent with DEI values
  3. Expanding models of the self and treatment that bring in traditional and non-traditional healing modalities
  4. Promoting a better understanding of the intersectionality between psychology and social justice through exploring paradigms of power, privilege, colonization, and oppression 
  5. Creating a safe, inclusive space for mental health professionals and community members to explore their own identities and implicit biases 
  6. Balancing general narrative with individual narrative to assist in improving psychotherapy process and outcome
