UPDATED FEBRUARY 12, 2025
The political landscape, including executive orders, over the past weeks has had and will continue to have immeasurable impacts on our society, including historically disenfranchised communities (such as immigrants and LGBTQIA+ individuals), veterans, civil servants, the people we work with, those we love, and us as clinicians. SCPA’s position is one that enables all people, of all identities, to live free and fulfilled lives. It is important not to lose sight of our duty as clinicians to be aware of these issues and provide care with sensitivity, humility, and within the ethical principles of our profession. We are here to defend science, psychology as a field, and most importantly humanity, so that our clients, coworkers, and communities live not in fear of authentic expression. As a DEI committee, we remain committed to keeping you updated on best practices and ways to be engaged and have agency.
